Short film genre

DRAMA

I need to research the genre drama and I am going to do this by watching two films that fits my genre. The films I am going to watch is Kidulhood, and Adulthood. The basic outline of the genre drama is that it is more serious than humorous and has a problem which needs to be resolved. A couple sub- genres of drama are: political drama, historical drama, domestic drama, etc. Here is a couple films: The Godfather, Titanic, Saving private Ryan, etc.

The reason why I has chosen drama is because I want my short film to be as realistic as possible and I do not want anything non natural in the film. I want my film to have a more serious tone to it and people to be interested by the suspense of the film.

Kidulthood review

Kidulthood is a drama/ crime film.

The plot of this film is about a girl named Katie is getting bullied in school, which leeds to her committing suicide. Because of this the school kids gets the day of. 3 boys named Trife, Jay, and Moony decide that they are going to do drugs and drink for the day

Comedy: The Main goal for a comedy is humour and to make the audience laugh. To make the audience laugh people normally over exaggerate characteristics. Traditionally these films have a positive ending. Comedy has been around for a long time and is one of the oldest genres, even when there was silent films. Here is a couple come films: Hot fuzz, Dumb and Dumber, Zoo Lander, Step brothers. I could list many comedy films but i have just listed a couple main comedy films.

Horror: The main thing that needs to be achieved with a horror film is to scare people or raise a heart beat. The reason people enjoy a horror film is because some people get a thrill of getting scared. The thing that people enjoy about a horror film is that something that is not real can become real and something non-natural become reality.  Here is a couple horror films: IT, The Exorcist, Sinister, The Blair Witch Project.

Action: This is about a protagonist that ends up in a series of challenges that they have to over come. It will normally have fighting, and action scenes. More time the odds are against the protagonist.  People have over come a lot of boundaries in filming, such as people have developed a thing called CGI. CGI has made it cheaper and easier to work with. CGI  has been used to create unrealistic, and highly unbelievable events. Here is a couple examples of an action film: Taken, Fast and furious, Infinity war, etc.

SCI FI: SCI FI films are normally made up with imaginative ideas, with concepts that people deem to be out of this world. Science fiction normally includes partial true and partial fake events. SCI FI films are normally set in the future. They also are set in different planets or dimensions. CGI is used a lot I science fiction to creates things like aliens, other words, etc. Here is some examples: Blade runner, star wars, Alien, etc.
